Sustainable meetings between Lake Constance and Arlberg

Be it in everyday life or at work and meetings: sustainability is a topic that is cropping up increasingly frequently.

An overview of all meeting and event venues with a sustainability certification can be found in our Venue Finder.

SUSTAINABLE CONFERENCE HOTELS AND LOCATIONS

The concept at the Fairmotel Dornbirn does what it says on the tin. This ecologically oriented business is located on the outskirts of Dornbirn; it has also been awarded the Austrian Eco-label for Green Hotels. A modern, comfortable and fair convention hotel.

Those who feel drawn to Lake Constance may choose between Hotel Schwärzler in Bregenz and Hotel am See in Hard. Seminarhotel Schwärzler is a conference hotel and a member of the Klimaneutralitätsbündnis (Climate Neutrality Alliance) in Vorarlberg and has also been awarded the Austrian Eco-label. It was the first climate-neutral hotel in Vorarlberg and will, on request, organise meetings as ‘Green Meetings’. It is possible to see and feel that regional value creation – from the sourcing of food to close relationships with the trades in Vorarlberg – runs through the business like a red thread. Lake Constance is right on the front door-step of the Harder Hotel am See. This convention hotel is also proud to have been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel and be a part of the Klimaneutralbündnis. Guests staying there for meetings can get together in the light-flooded half-timbered building that boasts its own garden.

Just an half-hour’s drive away, the Bregenzerwald is the perfect place for environmentally conscious meetings. Hotel Gasthof Krone in Hittisau has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for hospitality and accommodation businesses and for Green Meetings & Green Events. The industry’s sustainable development is deeply rooted in the DNA that runs through this conference hotel: it focuses on people while integration is just as important as regional sourcing and varied menus are. The fact that sustainability has played an important role at Hotel Krone not only since yesterday and that the links to culture, nature and the way of life in the Bregenzerwald are omnipresent is clearly tangible.

Even more nature is only possible at the Kaltenberghütte in Stuben am Arlberg. This rustic conference location is so close to nature that it can only be reached on foot – it offers space for up to 20 meeting guests in a unique location at an altitude of 2,100 metres. The Kaltenberghütte was awarded the Alpine Club’s environmental seal of approval in 2019, which identifies alpine huts that are being run in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient way.

How often do you get the chance to meet in a priory with its own organic farm, 38 hectares of meadows and 50 hectares of forest? That is precisely what is possible at the Propstei St. Gerold. It has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel and has been certified as a family-friendly business. A unique ambience for environmentally aware and nature-oriented events.

SUSTAINABLE CULTURE AND CONGRESS CENTRES

Those planning a congress, a conference or an event on a grand scale will be sending out signals that are all the stronger with a sustainable convention venue. Montforthaus Feldkirch – another recipient of the Austrian Eco-Label – has also been awarded the Climate Gold Standard, which is only given in recognition of buildings that focus especially on energy efficiency, climate protection and resource efficiency. The internationally renowned Festspielhaus Bregenz also has several awards to its name and is constantly introducing new measures to enhance sustainability.
