Two architectural worlds combine at Museum Bezau – a typical Bregenzerwald farmhouse from the 18th century, a listed building, and a modern addition built mostly using local handworkers. This fascinating tension is in play throughout the whole museum, with exhibitions running the gamut from past to present. They’re all dedicated to Bregenzerwald culture, handcraft, enterprise, and the image the local people have of themselves – and the outside world. Various cultural artifacts and treasures help bring history to life and illustrate topics which have moulded the local way of life right up to the present day. A tour through the exhibitions is well worth it too – group tours can be booked directly on the website.
