Ideas & Tips for Implementation
Environmental standards of event venues
Anyone who values sustainability can also do so when choosing a location. This is particularly easy if you look out for the Austrian Ecolabel. If a business is certified, this means it implements measures in the areas of waste, accessibility, energy procurement & use, procurement of equipment and materials, cleaning, and mobility management (including company vehicle fleets, electric charging stations, bicycle parking spaces, etc.).
Accessibility
Events are places that should be accessible and usable for all participants, without particular difficulty and in principle without outside help. The accessible design of events is necessary for some, helpful for others and practical for a large proportion. All participants can benefit from an accessible event.
Information relevant to the event should be accessible to all interested parties in accordance with the two-senses principle. As the organiser, you can find information on accessibility on the venue's website and find out more about this in a personal meeting.
As part of Green Meeting & Green Event certification, an accessibility declaration must be drawn up and made available to all participants.
Waste management policy
The event venue and companies hired for the event venue or acting as general caterers have a valid waste management policy. Some businesses (depending on the size of the business) are legally obliged to do so.
The waste management policy makes it clear what waste is generated and what happens to it. Weak points in the company’s waste management are revealed, as are possible process improvements and potential savings.
Electric car charging points
The event location avails of self-powered charging stations, or charging stations in cooperation with energy providers, for the provision of electricity from 100% renewable sources for event participants.
